Today was epic. I think each of us pushed ourselves a lot today. We rode 49 miles today and have gotten used to the fact that our asses will always be sore on this trip. What's really cool is that we only have 80 miles to go!
Kendra will be joining us tomorrow. It'll be interesting to see how she adjusts to the pain of biking. We have decided to ease her into it by doing only about 30 miles or so. This will allow us to end the last day with just doing about 25 miles of biking - which in theory, only takes about 2 1/2 hours to achieve but the way we dilly dally, it'll take about 5 hours. hahaha
I've gotten over losting my camera. I'm not going to lie, I was pretty down about it but I definitely didn't want to stew on that topic and not be in good spirits for everyone. Nothing makes a trip suck more than a person who isn't having fun.
Today's highlight was not only completing 49 miles. It was not even the fact that we had to ride through the detour that was VERY hilly (yet scenic). The true highlight was in Williamsport. We ate at The Desert Rose Cafe and they gave us THE best service. As soon as we came in (all sweaty and probably smelly) they offered to fill our water bottles with cold water. I guess they see a lot of bikers. The place was very quaint and you can tell they really try to connect with their customers. I think it's owned by a gay couple. I'm not certain if they were a couple but I am certain they are gay. The only female in the shop working even referred to her "partner". So, take away with that as you will. :0) They went above and beyond. Jake asked for a brownie and asked to have ice cream on it. They restaurant didn't have ice cream (they don't have it on the menu) but they went across the street to get a scoop of ice cream for him. Now THAT is customer service!
Tonight we are staying with friend's of Jake and Kendra's, Brent and Angel Smith in Falling Waters, WV. They have done an amazing job of taking care of our needs with beds, food, showers and some awesome pets (two dog's - Selky and Rogue and one cat - Gandolf). They will be transporting us back to our last location to finish out the last few days. I sense some camping in our lives.
Time to wrap it up for the night. biking that much really takes a lot out of you.
Until tomorrow.
